I just finished a 9 day 52 mile hike in the Paysayten Wilderness, just north of Winthrop Washington.

Alex and I at the trail head ready to get started.

A dead donkey along the trail that was loaded with dynamite ready to be blown up. I guess it is easier than carrying it out, but 60 sticks of dynamite seems like too much.

After 3 days of solid heavy rain, our boots and socks finally need drying.

We entered the burned out area on the 4th day and left on the 5th day.

Plants starting to thrive in the burnt out area.

More recently burned area.

Did a bear make those claw marks. Can you read the sign?

More fresh growth in the burned out area.

Cougar Lake.

Cougar Lake.

An interesting river that just appeared out of the base of a rockslide.

The Hidden Lake where we camped.

Stream near our camp. We filtered this water for drinking.

Another burned out tree.

3 more days to go and we will be home.

Bridge - needing some work.

Alex and Me....

Another bridge on the last night.

The view on the way home.

The Okanogan wilderness sign on the way out.
