It has been a while since I logged any events on my "adventure" website.

Today we went to Larrabee State Park and did some Geocaching, and climbing around on the rocks by the beach.

Family hike to the Pacific Ocean

Our adventure on the Ozette Triangle hike started out early Friday morning. We drove to Whidbey and took the Ferry to Port Townsend.

From there we drove west, to lake Ozette, 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The map below shows the hiking route that we took. First we hiked to Cape Alava, then 3 miles along the beach to Sand Point, then on Sunday, 3 miles back to the trailhead.

The first night at Cape Alava, we had a camp fire on the beach and roasted marshmallows.

Below is the view from our campsite, this was a nice and grassy campground.

We used two tents for the 4 of us.

On Saturday, Marcia fixed a great taco lunch on the beach hike.

After arriving at sand point George decided to make sand angels (like snow angels) in the sand. He still doesn't understand how so much sand ended up in his tent later. Throughout the afternoon, George and Alex built beach forts, and explored the beach areas.

Marcia, George and Alex with their packs on ready to head home.

Here I am throwing my pack on, ready to hike out.

The the trails from the parking lot to Cape Alava and to Sand Point were board walks made from splitting cedar logs.

Getting home was a bit of an issue. It was a bit stormy, and the little Port Townsend Ferry couldn't handle the waves. It had to turn back, and we then drove to the Edmonds / Kingston ferry.

What a great weekend.
